Welcome to Bookstaken. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Bookstaken website, platform, and reading mentorship services. By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Bookstaken provides 1:1 reading mentorship for children in Grades 1-6, connecting students with trained reading mentors to improve articulation, Imagination, and a love for reading.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Bookstaken services, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are a parent or guardian enrolling a minor, you represent that you have the authority to accept these Terms on their behalf. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.

2. Description of Service

Bookstaken provides 1:1 reading mentorship services for students in Grades 1-6. Our platform facilitates mentorship sessions, reading assessments, and progress tracking through our website, mobile application, and associated communication tools, including WhatsApp Business.

Our services include:

• Personalised reading mentorship sessions with trained mentors
• AI-powered reading fluency assessments and progress reports
• Curriculum-aligned reading materials and activities
• Regular progress updates to parents and guardians

4. User Conduct

You agree not to use the service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Transmit any harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its servers
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any portion of the service
• Record, screenshot, or distribute session content without prior written consent from Bookstaken

5. Mentor Profiles and Contact Policy

Bookstaken provides mentor profiles and information for the sole purpose of facilitating reading mentorship. By accessing this Site or platform, you agree that you will not:

• Use mentor information (including name, bio, photo, or affiliations) to contact mentors directly through social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) or by any means outside of official Bookstaken communication channels
• Solicit mentors for personal, commercial, or academic engagements outside of Bookstaken programs
• Reproduce or distribute mentor information without written permission from Bookstaken

All communication with mentors must take place through approved Bookstaken systems, WhatsApp coordination channels, or staff. Violation of this policy may result in immediate termination of access.

6. Student and Child Safety

Bookstaken takes children's safety seriously. All mentors are vetted students from reputed institutions (e.g., VNIT Nagpur, St. Xavier's, EFLU) and are trained in child-appropriate communication.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to:

• Be present or nearby during sessions if their child is under 10 years of age
• Report any concerns about session conduct to support@bookstaken.com immediately
• Review session progress reports shared through the platform or WhatsApp

Bookstaken reserves the right to terminate any mentorship relationship if conduct standards are not met by any party.

7. Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which also governs your use of the service. The Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information submitted through our website and platform.

8. Payment Terms

Bookstaken's reading mentorship services are available on a monthly subscription basis. Current pricing is communicated during enrollment.

• Fees are due at the beginning of each billing cycle
• Payments are processed through authorized payment channels communicated during onboarding
• Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise specified in writing by Bookstaken
• Bookstaken reserves the right to revise pricing with at least 30 days prior notice

9. Session Cancellations and Rescheduling

We understand that schedules can change. Our cancellation and rescheduling policy is as follows:

• Session cancellations must be communicated at least 24 hours in advance via WhatsApp or email
• Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may not be eligible for rescheduling
• Bookstaken will make reasonable efforts to reschedule sessions missed due to mentor unavailability

10. Intellectual Property

The Bookstaken service and its original content, including reading materials, assessments, curriculum frameworks, and platform features, are and will remain the exclusive property of Bookstaken and its licensors. These are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any Bookstaken content without prior written permission.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and bar access to the service immediately, without prior notice or liability, at our sole discretion, for any reason — including without limitation if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service will cease immediately.

12. Disclaimer

Bookstaken's reading mentorship services are designed to support and supplement a child's reading development. Results may vary depending on the student's engagement, consistency, and individual learning needs. Bookstaken does not guarantee specific academic outcomes.

The information and services on this platform are provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bookstaken excludes all representations, warranties, and conditions relating to our service.

13. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Bookstaken, nor its founders, team members, mentors, partners, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including without limitation, loss of data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — resulting from your use of the service.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect, communicated via email or WhatsApp. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
